Rise and Grind today is June 15th, 2010. I hope your enjoying this steamy hot weather, in local news, A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground in Monroe, Ohio. The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati. The sculpture, 62 feet tall and 40 feet wide at the base, showed Jesus from the torso up and was nicknamed Touchdown Jesus because of the way the arms were raised, similar to a referee signaling a touchdown. It was made of plastic foam and fiberglass over a steel frame, which is all that remained early Tuesday.I always would see this sulture but never knew the signifigance of it, but it's unfortunate that it had to burn down. maybe they will replace it with something else. In national news the BP disaster has caught the eye of many heart filled americans. Birds frozen oil and the cost they have to pay is their lives, Birds that get oiled can die from being too cold, or too hot, because the crude oil interferes with the natural oils that make them waterproof. That means their sensitive skin is exposed to extremes in temperature. Even in the relatively mild Gulf waters, they can "die from hypothermia. I just find this hard to believe that these animals are suffering as bad as they are. Birds with Squawking seagulls and majestic brown pelicans coated in oil. . Gunk dripping from their beaks. Big eyes wide open. this is sad i hope BP can get it together.
I hope you all take in support to helping those hurt animals in the gulf. if you would like to be apart of this clean up go to your local habitat for humanities, and I am sure they will lead you in the right direction. well folks thats my time i'll see you tomorrow same place same time. PEACE!!!!!
